What We Offer

The Teen Staff:
Our focus is to enhance the emotional, social, creative, intellectual, and physical needs of our teens. Through real experiences, the teens develop self-control, independence, core values, and are introduced to different cultures of the world. Strengthened by our training, we take the extra step to provide opportunities to master new skills by bonding, role modeling, and forming relationships with teens.

Life Skills and Leadership Opportunities:
This service area is designed to develop critical thinking skills such as problem solving, managing resources, and using information that can be applied to real life situations. These activities include the following: Computer training, Executive Committee Teen Council, Talent Show, Mini-Teen Discovery, Hire-A-Teen Program, Youth Sponsorship, Volunteer Opportunities, Community Service Projects, Cultural Diversity, Self-Esteem Classes, Baby-Sitting Classes, Keystone Club, and Task Force Teen.

Mentoring, Intervention, and Support Services:
This area offers opportunities for teens to socialize with their peers and adult leaders to share concerns and insights. These programs are designed to enhance teen awareness and offer preventive measures. These programs include the following: Anti-Violence, Homework, Substance Abuse Prevention, Teen Pregnancy, Family Relations, Volunteer Teen Summer Camp Assistants or Counselors, and Juvenile Counseling.

Leisure and Recreation Activities:
Teens enjoy a variety of leisure activities that provide a creative outlet for their energy and enhance their social skills. These activities include: Arts & Crafts, Table & Board Games, Basketball Tournaments, Dances & Pool Parties, Open Recreation, Bowling, Lock-Ins, Concerts, and Trips.

 

Clubs

Mini-Teen Discovery
A program designed to promote team building, problem solving, self-esteem, leadership, and self-development through structured group activities.

Hire-A-Teen Program
Teens register with YS to do a variety of jobs. After an initial training session is completed, the teens are referred to patrons who have requested teen referrals.

Youth Sponsorship Program:
Facilitates the integration of family members to the installation. Every effort is made to help teens assimilate into their new community.

Computer Technology Club:
Provides an upscale Computer Club for teens. This program works hard at exposing and informing young adults about current computer technology.

Community Service Projects:
Provides opportunities to get involved in serving the community through group or individual efforts. Teens will work in schools, service organizations, and with community groups. Through their activities, teens are learning valuable skills and are gaining an appreciation of the value of volunteering.

Teen Supreme Conference:
Focuses on life skills that help prepare teens for life challenges. This conference covers topics such as: drug education, alcohol prevention, sex issues, employment counseling, financial planning, peer relations, and self-development. This event is held once a year in the fall!

FITNESS AUTHORITY
Do you like sports? Do you need volunteer/community service hours? Do you like to plan sporting events such as basketball shoot-outs? Join this club and earn a chance to attend a LEADERSHIP SPORTS camp this summer for a whole week on a college campus! Fitness Authority meetings are held on the 1st are every 1st and 3rd Thursday from 3:30-4:30pm at Teen Club 24/7. Hip Hop Aerobics Tuesday & Thursday 5 - 6pm.

Black Rose Poetry Guild:
Interested in reciting poetry, acting, singing, directing, or expressive dancing? The Black Rose Poetry Guild is for you! Members of the Poetry Club recite both original and published poetry and original submissions are reviewed as a group and recited during sessions.

The Keystone Club: BECOME A VOLUNTEER!
Get a lot out of this Club! Earn 50 hours and receive a certificate signed by General (Ret.) Colin Powell; earn 100 volunteer hours and receive a gold pin, a written letter, and a certificate signed by the President of The United States; Quarterly Ceremony for Volunteers; looks GREAT on college and job applications; MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Computer Lab @ Club 24/7:
Come use our computers! Our lab consists of 6 Gateway computers with Internet access, Microsoft 2000, Print Master, plus all the art supplies you could ever need for a school or personal project. Open to all high school students 14-18.

Career Launch:
Are you ready to take off on your personal journey to success? Career Launch, is the new Career Exploration and Mentoring Program for teens. Career Launch will help you prepare for the working world, explore careers and make sound decisions about your education. It will sharpen the skills you have and build new ones as you look at your long-term career options and get ready to enter the workforce. Call (270) 956-1203 for details.

Photography Club
This club showcases photography skills and supports other programs! Club members ‘document’ events for organizations in the area by taking photographs. Photography Club members do research and educate themselves on the basics of photography itself. Members are able to develop their own film during special field trips.

4-H CLUB:
You can go to camp, learn to shop wisely, give a demonstration, grow vegetables, chat on a computer, make bread, shadow and adult, give a speech, or conquer an obstacle course. You can perform in a skit, start a business, judge soils, learn to sew or protect the environment. You can build your 4-H activities around your own talents and interests..

Art Club
Drawing and painting skills are nurtured in this creative club. Artwork is displayed for all to see. Young aspiring artists….here is our place to shine!

PARTY OVER HERE!!!
Need a place to have a party?! We have a dance/sitting area, professional DJ booth, lounge w/big screen TV, pool table & ping pong, computer lab, and video game are.
