Program Overview

The Part Day Preschool (PDPS) Program provides an opportunity for children to develop in an early learning experience.  We develop and plan activities, based on careful observation, that will stimulate them and engage children while they attend the program.  This type of curriculum is known as “Creative Curriculum”. Each child is assigned a primary caregiver who will inform you of your child’s progress while in our program.  The caregiver will monitor and provide you with monthly samples of your child’s handwriting, cutting, and art. Parents are also encouraged to participate with ideas pertaining to the interests of their children as part of the curriculum.  The parent participation is important to the program as it assists us in meeting the growth and developmental need of each individual child.  Our program consists of a Parent Advisory Council (PAC), which meets monthly.  This council works along with the staff to help ensure a successful program.  All parents are welcomed to come and join the PAC. The program has an open door policy.

Philosophy Statement

The Part Day Preschool Program PDPS is designed to educate the “whole” child:  physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially, linguistically, and aesthetically.  We strive to address the needs of the developing child and provide many educational opportunities for children to manipulate a wide variety of material as they work independently or in groups, and with their caregivers.  We invite and encourage children to observe, explore, investigate, and experiment through open-ended activities and explorations of materials.  We strive to create a relaxed, responsive, happy, and intellectually stimulating atmosphere.  Our program is characterized by warm, positive accepting attitudes toward all children.  Patterns of development are valued and respected by considering children’s differing learning styles.
