PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Part Day Preschool Program provides an opportunity for children to develop an early learning experience.  Through careful observation of the child’s interest we develop and create activities that will stimulate them and keep them interested throughout the time that they are in the programs care.  This type of Curriculum is known as “Creative Curriculum”.

Each child is assigned a primary caregiver that will inform you of your child’s progress while in our program.  The caregiver will monitor and provide you with monthly samples of the child’s handwriting, cutting, and art.

Parents are also encouraged to participate with ideas pertaining to the interests of their children so that they can be incorporated into the curriculum as it relates to the activities as they take place.  The participation of parents is important to the program as it assists us in meeting the growth and developmental need of each individual child.

Our program consists of a Parent Advisory Council (PAC), which meets monthly.  This council works along with the staff to help ensure a successful program.  All parents are welcomed to come and join the PAC.

The program has an open door policy.

PHILOSPHY STATEMENT

The Watters Child Development Part Day Preschool Program is designed to educate the “whole” child:  physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially, linguistically, and aesthetically.

We will strive to address the needs of the developing child and provide many educational opportunities for children to manipulate a wide variety of material as they work independently in groups and with their caregivers.

We invite and encourage children to observe, explore, investigate, and experiment through open-ended activities and explorations of materials.

We will strive to create a relaxed, responsive, happy, and intellectually stimulating atmosphere.  Our program is characterized by warm, positive accepting attitudes towards all children.  By taking into account children’s differing learning styles, these patterns of development are valued and respected.
