To be eligible for pre-kindergarten, children must be four years of age on or before September 30.
If space is available, after enrolling children who qualify for Free or Reduced Price Lunch Program, districts may enroll students who meet the following criteria:
Students who speak English as a second language (ESL),
Dependent students of a deployed military parent
Students with a Individual Education Plan (IEP).
According to the State Department of Education, (T.C.A. 49-6-201 (b)(3), "children entering kindergarten shall be five (5) years of age on or before September 30 of the current kindergarten term." Tennessee State Law also requires that a student going into the first grade must show proof of attendance in an accredited kindergarten program.
A birth certificate or other proof of date of birth Proof of up-to-date immunization on an official State of Tennessee Immunization Form. By state law, the following vaccinations must be completed before a child is registered for school: DPT (4 doses); polio (4 doses); MMR (2 doses); hepatitis B (3 doses); Varicella (1 dose).
A complete medical exam for the first-time enrollee is required. Evidence of completed exam must be presented upon registration A Social Security card is helpful to the school, as the last four digits are often used for identification purposes for school lunches and other activities Proof of custody Proof of residence.

To be eligible for attendance in the first grade, a child must be six (6) years of age by October 1 of the year of entry, and have successfully completed a public or private kindergarten. To enroll in kindergarten, Kentucky law mandates that a child must be five (5) years of age by October 1 of the year of entry. Required documents for the "first time enrollee" in kindergarten, first grade, or a Kentucky school include:
An official birth certificate from the Vital Statistics Office of the state where the child was born
An up-to-date Kentucky Immunization Certificate
A social security number
An eye examination by an optometrist or ophthalmologist for incoming students entering public schools for the first time
Kindergartners - physical within one year of the date of entry into school, a Hepatitis B series, a second MMR, an eye examination by an optometrist or ophthalmologist, a chicken pox vaccination (if under seven (7) years of age)
Sixth (6th) graders - physical within one year of date of entry, a current immunization certificate to include proof of a second MMR and Hepatitis B series
Tuberculin (TB) skin test for students enrolling in school having lived in a foreign country and other guideline as required by the State Health Guidelines
Records from Headstart and private kindergarten will be accepted provided they are complete and up-to date. Please call the school and confirm all documents. All kindergarten children will attend school all day every day of the week. School/Sports Physicals
School and sports physicals are provided all year long by the child's primary care manager in the appropriate clinic (Red, White, Blue or Young Eagle) where the child is assigned. Family members not enrolled in TRICARE Prime to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital will receive such services from the child's designated network provider. Fort Campbell School System requires a physical for preschool, students entering school for the first time, students transferring from another school, all students entering sixth grade, and sports physicals.
Kentucky/Christian County School System requires a physical for students entering Christian County schools for the first time, kindergartners, all students entering sixth grade and students who will play sports.
Clarksville/Montgomery County School System requires a physical for students entering school for the first time, transferring into the system, or who desire to play sports
