Our new facility is located at 5300 Airborne Street (at Tennessee Av), across from the Hooper Bowling Center on Fort Campbell. It’s open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and 9:30a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturdays. (parts only on Saturdays).

Automotive Do-It-Yourself!

If you do not mind getting your hands dirty & you have a passion for repairing vehicles yourself or you are a novice & just want to learn, come by the Auto Skills Centers at 5670, 18th & Wickham or 6548, 58th & Tennessee. You can do-it-yourself & we also have on site dedicated training instructors to guide & teach you.

Instructors are on site and available for your automotive questions. They will guide and teach you the proper way to conduct the repair you are performing. We have flat bays and lift bays available. We also carry specialty tools. You can perform repairs like: change oil, rotate & balance tires, conduct engine work, axle & clutch work, AC repairs, coolant system services, etc. In addition, these shops provide short term storage so you will have time to perform your repairs. If you need repair parts while you are working, we have a parts department that offers free delivery on most parts. For more information, call 956-1100.

OUR HISTORY
THE AUTO SKILLS CENTER IS SO MUCH MORE THAN A FACILITY WITH BAYS WHERE YOU CAN DO YOUR OWN WORK. IN THE EARLY 90’S THE MILITARY STARTED EXPERIENCING PROGRESSIVE CUTBACKS, SOLDIERS WERE EXPECTED TO DO MORE WITH LESS MONEY AND FEWER PEOPLE. THIS ACTION PUT EVEN MORE RESTRICTION ON A SOLDIER’S FREE TIME. IT WAS DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO GET TIME OFF TO FIX THEIR VEHICLE OR TO DRIVE DOWNTOWN TO GET IT REPAIRED BY A PROFESSIONAL. FT CAMPBELL MANAGEMENT HAD THE FORSIGHT TO UNDERSTAND THE RAMIFICATIONS OF THE SITUATION AND INSTITUTED POLICIES AND PROCEDURES THAT WOULD HELP THE SOLDIER AND THE ARMY’S MWR. WE MANAGED TO KEEP AUTO SKILLS CENTER AS AN MWR ACTIVITY.

THE AUTO SKILLS CENTER HAS EXPANDED ITS # OF BAYS, TO INCLUDE 16 SELF SERVICE BAYS AT THE NORTH SHOP, 12 SELF SERVICE BAYS AT THE SOUTH SHOP AND 6 SERVICE REPAIR BAYS AT THE “NEW” AIR ASSAULT SHOP. WE NOW EMPLOY 10 ASE CERTIFIED MECHANICS TO WORK ON YOUR VEHICLE AND 5 INSTRUCTORS TO ANSWER AUTOMOTIVE QUESTIONS FOR SELF SERVICE. ALSO TO HELP WITH YOUR REPAIRS, WE HAVE AN “ON DEMAND” COMPUTERIZED REPAIR INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR DOMESTIC & IMPORT VEHICLES FROM 1983 TO PRESENT. WE OFFER SERVICES SUCH AS ENGINE WORK AND COMPUTERIZED TUNE-UPS, SAME DAY SERVICE FOR MOST JOBS. IN 1995, WE SERVICED APPROXIMATELY 3500 CUSTOMERS PER MONTH AND USED OUTSIDE PARTS SOURCES. DOWN TIME WAS SOMETIMES 3-5 HOURS ON A STANDARD BRAKE SERVICE. WITH CUSTOMER INPUT, RESOURCEFUL MANAGEMENT AND A SUPPORTIVE MWR NETWORK, WE ARE NOW ABLE TO OFFER A PARTS DEPARTMENT THAT REMINDS YOU OF YOUR HOME TOWN PARTS STORE WITH FRIENDLY EMPLOYEES YOU’LL COME TO KNOW ON A FIRST NAME BASIS LOCATED AT THE “NEW” AIR ASSAULT AUTO SHOP, 5300 AIRBORNE & TENNESSEE.
