WELCOME

The objective of the ACS Family Advocacy Program (FAP) is to assist Soldiers and Families in recognizing and meeting the challenges of military lifestyles. It is important to realize that when stressed, we are more vulnerable to life’s challenges. In addition to the following programs offered FAP can assist with referrals to other appropriate resources.

 

PROGRAMS

1,2,3,4 PARENTS!
A three session program for those with children ages 1-4 years old. Learn about ages & stages, discipline, avoiding problems building the bond. Limited childcare available.  *Printable Flyer*

Active Parenting Now
A three session program for those who have children ages 5-12 years old. Topics include understanding behavior, responsibility, natural & logical consequences and communication. Limited childcare available. *Printable Flyer*

Active Parenting of Teens
Learn about teen behavior, problem solving, responsibility, discipline and communication. *Printable Flyer*

Strengthening Stepfamilies
Information on predictable stages of stepfamilies, communication, resolving conflict and the couple relationship. *Printable Flyer*

Couples’ Communication
A 7-hour workshop highlighting the differences in gender communication patterns, understanding communication skills and learning relationship “stoppers”.  *Printable Flyer*

The Tale of Two Brains
Join us in participating in this hilarious marriage enrichment workshop that discusses
how men and women are wired differently, communicate differently, and most
importantly, how they think differently. Based off Mark Gungor’s DVD series, Laugh

UNIT TRAINING

Annual FAP Briefing
Required yearly IAW AR 608-18 for all Soldiers. This one hour training is scheduled with Command and is provided at Battalion, Unit or Company level. Soldiers are informed of services available through FAP, dynamics of child and partner abuse, reporting procedures for abuse and policies and procedures the Army has implemented in regard to FAP.

NCO Guide to Prevention
This highly interactive program focuses on E-5s through E-8’s. It is designed to assist NCOs in recognizing problems at the lowest level and knowing what resources are available. The intent is to assist Soldiers and Families in resolving problems before they become a crisis and interfere in the mission. A few of the topics include effective communication, services available and shared experiences. Scheduled through interested companies. Classes are kept to 25 NCOs or less.
