Welcome

The Relocation Readiness Program provides assistance to military personnel, Family members and DOD Civilians moving to the Fort Campbell community or personnel relocating to other military installations.

Come visit our Welcome Center located at the ACS building, 5661 Screaming Eagle Blvd. The Center has an abundance of information for Fort Campbell and local community tourist information consisting of maps, directories, employment, medical, dental, housing, education & schools, and DFMWR (Directorate of Families and Morale, Welfare and Recreation).

****The “Eagle Family Welcome” is held every Tuesday at the Turner Guest House from 0900-1000, to welcome Soldiers and their Families to Fort Campbell. Briefing is conducted to provide important information on housing, childcare, school, employment, medical & dental and PCS financial entitlements.

Soldier & Family Newcomer Orientation

The “Soldier & Family Newcomer Orientation” is an interactive Family Orientation to welcome and inform newly arrived Soldiers and Family Members of resources available at Fort Campbell. The Soldier and Family Newcomers Orientation will be held twice monthly January, February, March and weekly, during the month of April at the ACS Family Resource Center from 0900-1500.

The Orientation is mandatory for all Soldiers arriving Fort Campbell and Family Members are strongly encouraged to attend. Representatives from other agencies to include Army Community Service (ACS) will be setting up an information booth with important information for “Newcomers.”

Other agencies participating will be; Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation, Chaplains, BOSS, Armed Services YMCA, American Red Cross, Military Family Life Consultants (MFLCs), Army Education Center, Recycling and local community chambers and on-post banking.

For the newcomers orientation beginning January 14th, there will be an area called “Taking Care of Business” with agencies such as Housing, Medical/Tricare, Transportation, Legal Assistance and Child, Youth and School Services (CYSS) to allow the Soldier and Family Member to ensure their questions are answered while settling in our community at Fort Campbell. A bus tour of the installation and lunch is included. Free Childcare will be available. Sign-up one week in advance for free childcare by calling ACS Relocation Readiness Program at 270-798-6313.

Soldier Newcomer & Re-entry Briefing
The Soldier & Re-entry Briefing is provided to Soldiers who PCS to Fort Campbell from both stateside and overseas assignments. The orientation provides information on the installation, the local community, and on coping with readjustment upon returning to the States. Briefings are held each Thursday at 0730-0800, at the Replacement Company located at 6919 Desert Storm.

Lending Closet

The Lending Closet lends basic household items such as dishes, pots & pans, irons, ironing boards, toasters, coffee pots, table & chairs, car seats, and highchairs to those individuals transitioning to and from Fort Campbell. When departing Fort Campbell, individuals must return signed out items prior to clearing ACS. All items must be returned clean or they will not be accepted for return. Loans are for 30 days. However, extensions are given for up to 60 days. A valid ID card and orders are required to check items out of the Lending Closet.

Sponsorship Training

Sponsorship Training is conducted quarterly and as requested to train personnel on the Army Sponsorship Program. Attendees learn how to be a good sponsor, where to find specific information requested by incoming personnel, and the elements of the sponsorship program.

Army Community Service (ACS) does not assign sponsors. Soldiers desiring sponsors can contact their unit at Fort Campbell direct. Please contact Ft. Campbell Directory Of Services at 270.798.2151 to get phone numbers for all brigades or units. If you don't have a pin point assignment please contact Strength Monitoring at 270-798-5257/5282, to get information on your gaining unit.

International Spouse Support Group

Recognizing the many difficulties foreign-born spouses encounter in adapting and thriving in American society, this group provides a forum where they may gather to discuss personal concerns and frustrations, while sharing ideas and methods to help them cope and overcome specific problems.

The International Spouse Support Group is a multicultural, multi-ethnic group. The group provides support to foreign-born spouses in the Fort Campbell area. The main goal of the group is to bring together foreign-born spouses for an informal gathering, to share information such as learning English as a Second Language, acquiring American Citizenship, obtaining a resident alien card and/or driver’s license, networking, continuing education, finding a job, raising bilingual children, and issues pertaining to cultural adaptation.

The countries of Japan, Korea, Germany, Panama, Philippines, Mexico, Africa, France, New Zealand, and Norway are represented. The group has participated in organized picnics, a 4th of July barbecue, Concerts in the Park, baby showers, cooking classes, sewing classes, practicing "speaking English the American way", and learning Polynesian dances.

English as a Second Language Classes
English classes are conducted every Wednesday 1000-1100 (Beginners) and Thursday from 1000-1200 (Beginners) and 1230-1430 (intermediate) at the ACS center. The class provides basic conversational English and basic grammar and comprehension. Classes are free to Soldiers and Families living on/off post. Childcare is provided. Citizenship Class

Citizenship classes are offered to Soldiers and Family Members who are preparing to become U.S. citizens. The class reviews U.S. government structure, U.S. history, and the procedures to become a U.S. citizen. A citizenship manual, “Important People To Know”, and 100 sample questions are provided for individual study.

Departing Personnel

Plan My Move (automated welcome packet)
"Plan My Move" is an automated information system designed to provide relocation information on all military installations within CONUS or OCONUS. Specific information contained in "Plan My Move" includes education, employment, medical & dental, housing, support services, relocation services and survival tips for first-termers.
"Plan My Move" can be accessed online at militaryonesource.com select appropriate Military service and follow instructions.

Relocation Resource Center
The Relocation Resource Center provides information to assist Soldiers and Families in the relocation process. Videos of other military installations, foreign language tapes, cultural adaptation videos, trip itineraries, USAREUR driver’s manuals, and resources pertaining to relocation for children and teens are available.

Smooth Move Orientations
Smooth Move Orientations are conducted to provide relocation information to Soldiers and Family Members making a permanent change of station move overseas or within the continental U.S. Orientations are held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at the In & Out Processing Center. Briefings include ACS program, transportation, personnel movement, legal, finance, and housing information. Relocation Specialists are not subject matter experts. However, they can help you find the correct agency for any problems or questions you may have.

Individual Relocation Counseling
Relocation individual counseling is available to both inbound and outbound transferees. The primary focus is pre departure counseling and relocation planning. Individual relocation counseling is targeted to Soldiers and Families preparing for their first permanent change of duty station or first overseas PCS. Relocation counseling includes assessing the Soldier’s individual or Family needs and particular relocation circumstances. Appointments can be scheduled at the end of the Smooth Move Orientation or by calling 270-798-6313 / 270-956-2676/0513.

Heart Apart Waiting Families Program
Waiting Families support Group meets once a month on the last Friday of each month to provide important information to Spouses who remain in the area while the Soldier is on an unaccompanied tour, extended TDY or deployed. The Waiting Families Support group discusses the stresses and concerns of their separation and shares coping skills with one another. PCS Checklist

*Plan ahead as soon as you receive PCS orders, start scheduling required meetings and household chores. You may need to make arrangements for updating immunizations and obtaining passports for an overseas move.


*Discuss the move – keep the lines of communication open, so that any concerns of family members can be dealt with as they arise.


*Learn about your new duty station – visit the Army Community Service Relocation Assistance Office. They will assist you by loaning items from the Lending Closet and providing information about your new duty station.


*Request a sponsor at your duty station if one isn’t provided for you. A sponsor can give you an inside look at your new community.


*Start keeping lists of friends addresses and household goods you will want to ship. Keep a file on helpful ideas for packing, decorating and moving. Be sure to leave your new address with friends and relatives.


*Transportation to arrange the moving/storage of your furniture, car. (cars for overseas move only)


*Housing Office to notify them of your upcoming PCS move. If you live off post notify your landlord.


*Finance Office to make any needed financial arrangements.


*Commander’s Office to apply for leave, if taken with travel time.


*Bank/credit unions to close accounts, arrange for direct deposit, or set aside travel funds.

*Remember to make arrangements regarding autos that are currently financed by a lien holder.


*Schools pick up children’s records and review educational concerns.


*Hospital/doctor to pick up medical records .


*Utilities/phone companies to arrange to cut off service.


*Post Office to complete change of address forms.
