The Family Resource Center has recently been renovated to better serve the Soldiers and families of the Fort Campbell community. The center was designed with the Family Readiness Groups’ (FRG) needs in mind. The center has five rooms for Family Readiness Groups to reserve for their official needs and houses several of Army Community Service’s Family Programs.

Family Resource Center Standard Operating Procedure
The building boasts a large reception area filled with informational brochures about the Fort Campbell community as well as our local supporting communities. The reception area is furnished with a comfortable inviting waiting area and a flat screen television. A receptionist is available to educate the visitors on the resources available in the center, and during major deployments the receptionist also fields the Family Resource toll free line.
The highlight of the center is the Dining Room. This room has a working fireplace with an arrangement of comfortable sofas and chairs perfect for an informal “get together”. The far end of the room is set up to accommodate a family-style potluck dinner with seating for thirty. Ms. Jackie Langford of Riner Furniture graciously donated the furnishings found in the Dining Room. The adjacent kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, stove, pantry, and plenty of working space to prepare and serve a potluck meal.
A small conference room is located in the west wing of the building and is set up to accommodate a classroom style meeting. The room is equipped with a manual display screen and a flat screen television.
The Ballroom is perfect for large functions. This room is designed to hold four hundred and fifty people with auditorium style seating. The Ballroom has three large electric display screens with built-in overhead audio-visual equipment. This room may also be broken into three different classrooms. Each of these classrooms can seat one hundred fifty people with independent access to each room. The three audio-visual systems also work independently.
Rounding out the west wing of the center is the onsite Short Term Alternative Child Care (STACC) Room. The child care room is available for use in conjunction with the rest of the center. Reservations for this service (room and staff) are independent of the reservation system for the center.
The center also houses three Video Telephone Conference (VTC) rooms located in the far northwest corner of the facility. The facility manager coordinates the utilization of the VTC rooms.
The east wing of the center serves as a hub for the Family Readiness Groups’ daily activities. The “buzz” of FRG volunteers hard at work is a familiar sound at the Family Resource Center. The Resource Room is equipped with three computers and one printer for the Army community to stay connected to the “web” world. A copier is also available. Directly across from the Resource Room is the FRG Mailbox Room. Each FRG leader has an assigned distribution mailbox to facilitate an efficient exchange of information between the FRGs and the Division’s supporting agencies.
The remainder of the east hallway houses several of the Army Community Service family program offices. These programs assist the Soldiers and family members in their quest to build a better and stronger Army community.
Army Family Team Building (AFTB) is a volunteer-led organization with a central tenet: provide training and knowledge to spouses and family members to support the total Army effort. Strong families are the pillar of support behind strong Soldiers. It is AFTB's mission to educate and train all of the Army in knowledge, skills, and behaviors designed to prepare our Army families to move successfully into the future. AFTB contributes to the Army mission by educating and training the Army family to be self-sufficient leaders within their communities. AFTB Level I focuses on the basic skills and knowledge needed to live the military life. Level II allows the participant to grow into a community leader. Finally, Level III goes into inspiring and mentoring others into leadership positions. Please feel free to stop by the AFTB office to learn more about the program. The office is located in Room 102.
The Army Family Action Plan (AFAP) office offers the Army community the opportunity to examine quality of life issues at an annual conference. The program office (Room 103) continually solicits issues throughout the year from the Active Duty Component, Reserve Component, National Guard, Retirees, Civilian Employees and family members of these groups. Individuals from these groups are recruited to serve as delegates during the conference. The delegates discuss the submitted issues and determine which issues are most important to brief to the Installation Commander. The Installation Commander appoints a Steering Committee to ensure the conference issues are addressed and resolved at the local level. Issues that are outside of the Installation scope are forwarded to the Installation’s Major Unit Command for consideration at their annual conference. For more information about this program visit the Web site at https://afap.campbell.army.mil
The Family Readiness Coordinator’s office is located in Room 109. The Family Readiness Coordinator is in charge of the overall training of family readiness groups for the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). This office provides extensive training for Family Readiness Group leaders, Point of Contacts, Treasurers, newsletter editors and volunteer managers. This office also assists FRG leaders with the necessary paperwork for fundraising activities. The coordinator continues to compile resources and helpful information that directly affects the success of FRGs across the Installation. The Family Readiness Coordinator encourages interested individuals to stop by the office for more information.
The Army Volunteer Corps Coordinator’s office serves as the single point of contact for volunteerism on the Installation. The AVCC can assist you in learning about volunteer opportunities on the Installation and in the surrounding civilian communities. The AVCC recruits and interviews potential volunteers for placement in positions throughout the installation. This office provides training to the various Installation agencies and assists the agency volunteer managers in developing job descriptions. The AVCC office also maintains a “job bank” and keeps a record of hours collected from other volunteer managers andserves as an advocate for volunteer issues. The AVCC provides monthly installation recognition and an annual Installation-wide recognition ceremony. For information about volunteer opportunities, please call the AVCC office.
The second floor of the Family Resource Center is home to the Family Advocacy Program. This program provides information and education designed to support strong, self-reliant families and enhance coping skills.
